Catherine Mitchell
Cathy is a trained nurse in Learning Disabilities and Psychiatry. She has worked in the Health Service, Independent Sector, Local Authority (Unitary and County) levels.
This has involved her managing social care and health services from a local authority and a primary care trust setting. Much of her work has been underpinned through working in partnership across a range of stakeholders.
As Strategic Commissioning Director her role requires her to work in partnership with the 5 PCT Commissioner’s/Public Health Directors across Essex plus the 12 districts and Boroughs. The partners have developed joint strategies and are developing commissioning plans which use the JSNA as the evidence base.
Cathy is also the Accountable Officer for supporting People in Essex, this is a programme offering housing related support to vulnerable people. Cathy and partners have produced the Essex Later Life Strategy and the Community Well Being Strategy, the implementation of these action plans will support the growing population of Essex to remain independent, well and improve citizens quality of life and contribute to the delivery of the Local Area Agreement outcomes.
Cathy is a member of the Essex Cardiac and Stroke Network and is in the process of recruiting to a joint Stroke Co-ordinator post to drive forward the delivery of the outcomes contained within the Stroke Strategy.
