Sarah Ward
Hello, my name is Sarah Ward. I have worked in Health and social care for over twenty years.
I started working in a small school for children with disabilities in the eighties, which prompted me to apply for nursing in the learning disability field. Following qualifying I worked in the independent sector and then local authority in a children’s respite unit.
At the end of the 90’s I completed my social work training and then worked in various different social work teams across Hartlepool. Following this I became involved in direct payment development leading on to personal budget development and on to social care transformation team manager /lead in Hartlepool.
A theme throughout my career has been how difficult it can be to provide every day, practical, individualised responses to people’s needs in the systems we work within...so the personalisation agenda for me is music to my ears!
