Barbara McIntosh
Barbara is currently Co-Director at The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities, a development agency and charity carrying out research, service improvement work and staff development.
She has been in the learning disability field for 15 years having worked at King’s College( London University), The King’s Fund, Local Government and the NHS.
Barbara is particularly interested in the implementation of personalization, family and user led services, improving services to people with autism and supporting public and third sector organizations to deliver this agenda.
Past work has included managing the national Changing Days Programme at the King’s Fund which led to new community based options replacing traditional day centres, national research with Lancaster University on the effectiveness of person centred planning and current work on developing self employment for people with learning disabilities.
Barbara was educated in Canada, Stockholm and The London School of Economics. And she has a B.A. in anthropology and Social Work and an M.Sc.in Health and Social Policy.
